The Panasonic FV-11VQ5 WhisperCeiling 110 CFM Ceiling Mounted Fan is very quiet. No sound. It is Panasonic’s newest attraction in ventilation fans, after the discontinued Panasonic .8 Sone. The noticeable reduction in sound level shows up between .8 Sone and , 3 Sone. The Panasonic FV-11VQ5 was made to give the customer problem free operation for years and years. This is due in part to its high quality components and motors that are lubricated permanently so the fan will wear down at a much slower pace. It has blades made of heavy gauge galvanized steel that are permanently painted to prevent rust. The fan has a completely enclosed condenser for the motor as well as a double tapered blower wheel (this is why it blows so quietly).
The Panasonic FV-11VQ5 WhisperCeiling fan operates at a lower temperature which in turn adds life to the bearings and motor. It has a pre designed electrical configuration of the motor that makes it so energy efficient. The fan also has mounting brackets (adjustable), firm and secured duct ends and adaptors that can be detached from the housing. The wiring is not complicated, but is as easy as attaching a white, black and green wire to an already in place AC ground source. For the customer, there is a user friendly instructional tutorial on installing this fan. A template made of cardboard is supplied with the fan to help the customer do a physical layout of the size of the rough-in cut on the ceiling for installation. Mounting the unit will require 10.5 inches by 10.5 inches with an outside grill at about 13 inches by 13 inches and mounting rails and screws are included. It is practically the same model as Panasonic’s .8 Sone, with a few minor differences. For one, the power intake between the two units has been reduced to almost .1 static pressure.
For the cost, the Panasonic FV-11VQ5 is a great performer. It can be installed in an attic or ceiling within one hour. Most customers claim to have little complication with the ductwork, making it a very easy ventilating fan to install. When using the Panasonic FV-11VQ5, the customer will find that he or she can hear the sound of the air, but not the sound of the motor. Comments have been overwhelmingly positive for those who have purchased this fan. One customer notes: “Panasonic makes very good quality fans with many offerings in their ‘Whisper’ ventilation line. In this day of flimsy plastic, paper-thin stamped metal, and cheap parts, this Panasonic fan stands well above that level. It is very well built.”
Panasonic FV-11VQ5 – Customer Reviews
Another customer comments on the quietness of the fan: “Overall, we’re very happy with this unit and would recommend it to anyone installing it in a residential home or small area. Those interested should realize this is a very quiet unit. Some people like a fan to block sounds that emanate from the bathroom so others can’t hear any quiet noises. For those who would like this from a ventilation fan, this is not the fan for you. I’d suggest looking for a fan with a rating of approximately 2 Sones. Anything less than 1 Sone is really very quiet.”
For more than 50 years, Panasonic has impressed the customer with technological innovations for the business or home. The Panasonic FV-11VQ5 is rated by the energy star as well as certified by HVI (Home Ventilating Institute). It has a blower/motor with four poles completely enclosing the condenser motor. This is for a continuous run and can be operated with no less than 110 CFM. Outside air cannot come through the fan because of its built-in damper which prevents back draft. There is no excessive heat created by the fan as it has cool running motors. The fan’s wide blower wheel moves a larger amount of air at reduced RPMs. Because the blower wheel draws air in from dual sides, it can be so quiet that the customer will not even know that it is turned on. It is important that the customer remember that this fan does not plug into a wall outlet. The Panasonic FV-11VQ5 fan needs to be hard wired to a power source within the home.
